Please be aware that a homeowner on Morningdale drive had solar panels installed but had to remove them due to complaints -  a very costly undertaking I would guess.

please refer to the community deed restrictions which prohibit solar panel (and much more) on the outside of homes:

See page 2, section 5 of the deed restriction document:

I can see the argument both ways.  However if there are houses that have the back of their houses facing South, I see no reason why homeowners should not be allowed to mount solar panels to the rear portion of their roofs, the same as the current allowance that has been made for satalite dishes (in the same section of the deed restrictions).  I agree that there would have to be rules.  There should be no ground installations, not allowed to stand off the roof more than a certain amount,  only on rear portion of the roof, require ARC approval.  etc.

I guess we should all look for another way to cool our homes, cause those AC condensors are a mechanical eyesore also Wink

I had asked about this previously.  I think the way to do it is we would have to have a community pole/vote.  I think 2/3 would have to approve the change, someone can correct me on this if this value is not right.

I was just kidding about the AC condensor thing by they way, I like my mechanically cooled house.

Also to comment on requesting Delmarva to pursue more solar.  By nature Solar is a distributed power source.  It takes lots of area to generate sufficient solar power.  What makes it worthwhile in general is generating the power at the point of use, distributed across the grid.  Yes, you could generate huge solar fields, but generally that is generally not economically viable due to distribution costs, etc.  This prospect improves some with solar collecting mirors, or if you are somewhere with lots of sun.

I'm not saying that all of us want to have solor panels on our roofs, but if you are going to do it then installation on roofs across the grid is the way to make solar work.  I think the real debate is whether as a community we want to have an allowable type of solar panel installation which would also mitigate the soreness of our neighbor's eyes, the same way we have allowed some satalite dish installations.
