Branmar Veterinary Hospital, at 1610 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington, quoted me an amount for surgery for my pup, a 9-year-old chocolate lab, for ear flap surgery, flushing of ears, e-collar, meds, and nail trim.  I expressed to the attending vet that because of the age of my lab and the amount of money I had already spent this last year on a liver/gallbladder issue, I wasn't sure I wanted to pursue this and asked him what it would cost.  I was quoted "a couple hundred dollars".  Based on that quote of "a couple hundred dollars", I decided to go forward with the services.  There were no complications, thank goodness.  BUT, when I picked up my pup, I was charged 3x the quote -- there is a big difference between "a couple hundred dollars" and what I was charged -- $674.  I told them that was not what I was quoted and was flippantly told that the attending vet should not have told you that.  Regardless of what he should or shouldn't have told me, I got ripped off!  I have tried to get reimbursed for the difference but Jennifer Schieber, the owner, will not.  I told her that I am not a vet, nor do I work in a vet practice and I relied on her employee to give me an accurate quote since I was basing my decision on the charges.  I have been a long-time patron of Branmar Vet but no longer.  So, buyer beware -- these are shady business practices and a shady vet practice.

My sister had a bad experience with her cat there too.  It also involved being overcharged.  Thanks for the heads up.  I go to Graylen and so far they have been accurate with their fees.
