I know that maintaining the quality of a good neighborhood begins with being cognizant of the little things, like cleaning up after our pets, keeping trash cans hidden ect.  But I think there are some bigger things going on around us that we need to be vigilant about.  How about three burglaries and at least one other attempt in the past 18 months.  Also, how is it possible that a house in our neighborhood can be condemned?  Where are these people that are moving into the neighborhood coming from?  Does anyone know if this is a rental property?  Talking about the house on Shrewsbury that looks like a drive through Jiffy Lube with two to three cars up on blocks most of the time, shutters falling down, garage door damaged, that recently had the CONDEMNED sign hanging on the front door.  Hopefully, they are gone for good, but something tells me they will be back.  Has anyone else noticed the teenagers hanging in the play ground after dark leaving behind broken glass and cigaette butts?  I know most of the kids in the neighborhood and I am pretty sure that none of them are residents.  Like most neighborhoods in the Brandywine Hundred area, you rarely see a NCCPD car patrolling our neighborhood.  Therefore, if you see something suspicious, you see people hanging out on the playground after dark who don't appear to be from our neighborhood, don't hesitate to call 911.  Maybe a little more police presence might help discourage some of the more alarming behaviors that have occured in Ballymeade in recent years.

With you on calling 911 regarding loitering in the park.  If we notice anything we call.  There has also been dumping taking place (how ironic, just past the no dumping sign in the county wooded area behind park.)  I was told from witnesses it was a guy in workboots that came from the area where they are working on the home that burnt down (through the townhomes).  He dumped what looks like sand in two spots.  We as neighbors need to care enough to do a nieghborhood cleanup.  It is very badly needed.

Agreed.  I know that there are a number of boys in the neighborhhood who are involved in scouting.  A neighborhhod clean up effort would be great, and some or all of the ones involved in scouting could participate as a service project.

Once spring comes along I'll post a request to organize one.
