BALLYMEADE

Overgrown grass and weeds in neighborhood

Posted in: Ballymeade

While walking around Ballymeade recently I couldn't help but notice that the lawns of certain townhomes were overgrown with weeds and grass.  This is very sad to see, especially next to a home where the owner has taken the time to keep their lawn mowed and has well-maintained plants and flowers.  This also de-values the surrounding homes because some of these properties look abandoned.  I always thought there were some guidelines concerning maintaining your property and grounds.

Don't forget the over grown tree branches!  I can not walk my dog let alone take my child out in a stroller without going into the street because the branches are so low!  And don't get me started on people leaving there huge trash cans out completely blocking the sidewalk.  Please be considerate of those that need to use the sidewalks!  It is not always safe to walk a stroller in the street especially with the speeding cars.

great posting, finally some one said it!!  unkempt houses devalue all the surrounding houses, it's a proven fact.  the county has  the authority to fine unkempt homes but they have to be pretty bad - like grass 8 inches high.  check out the New Castle County website for the code on property maintenance.  if you see an unkempt house, call BC Consulting and let them know, they will call the county for you and have contacts there.

We need to get BC Consulting to get a letter out ASAP to all home owners in Ballymeade to trim their trees over sidewalks, cut their grass, put the trash pails on their grass and not on the sidewalk and to cut their grass weekly and week their flower beds.  This is a great community, I love living here, but certain things just irritate me and many others it seems!!!  Cool
