The Ballymeade Landscape Committee asks that all homeowners with street trees near their home water them this summer.  In the past it was said that homeowners should not do so but with the hot summer in progress we need your help.  Please water each tree, no matter what size as follows:

Hose:  let the hose drip onto the base of the tree for 1 or 2 hours...operative work here is drip...very slow small stream of water so as not to drown it.   The goal is to get at least 5 gallons of water to seep into the hard packed dirt down to the roots.

Bucket/Watering Can: the trees need about 5 gallons of water a week at least....pour the bucket water onto the base of the tree very slowly...very slowly...letting the water soad DOWN into the soil and not wash away over the top of the hard packed soil.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!

Please note: We have invested a lot in the street trees by installing them (average cost $300), fertizing them each spring, pruning, straightening them, mulching, spraying for Japanese Beetles, etc.   Some trees along Ballymeade Drive upper area and the ones on Longmeadow are not looking so good just yet but in another year or two they will be awesome - providing shade, cooling the area, raising property values!!!!
